Yesterday, I had the urge to find something to stuff on my face and no, it’s not chocolates this time. You see, I recently stepped past the line of twenties and into the BIG 3.O; and suddenly I felt very old. I stared into the mirror and saw thirty year old me, and I could have sworn I saw crow’s feet and creases growing more wrinkly branches around my eyes! Okay, so maybe I’m exaggerating a little. But anyway in effect, I felt I needed to do something about it. So it was in good timing that I was in the area near a shopping mall that had a branch of Kiehl’s and for the first time in my life I looked for an anti-wrinkle product to put on my face.
I ended up purchasing Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate. Wow! Just by the name itself, it already sounded like a super serum to end all villainous wrinkles!
The product is supposed to have a “continuous delivery of 10.5% Vitamin C” and according to Dr. Oz’s website, topical vitamin C is best to target signs of aging and can be more 20x more effective if you apply it to the affected part than taking it orally. It also said better to look for products that contain between 3% and 10% of vitamin C and include the active ingredient ascorbic acid or L-ascorbic acid. The packaging should also be opaque as vitamin C, as with all other antioxidants may lose its effect once exposed to air and light.
That explains the dark brown bottle, although it’s still a bit see through, hopefully it’s enough to protect the vitamin c in the serum from deteriorating.
After cleansing and toning my face last night, I applied the product and t there was a bit of warm sensation which is normal due to the Vitamin C. My skin felt smooth, although since that was Day 1 of course I wouldn’t know the effect yet. The recommendation is to use it twice daily, so today was my second time to use it. I will be doing a 2-week trial and will update this post with the results after exactly 2 weeks so hopefully I’ll have positive reviews by then!
*** Update ***
It’s been approximately one month since I started using this product and although I experienced minor breakouts, I continued to use the product until my skin “adapted” to it. I used the vitamin c twice daily right after my toner and before the moisturizer, and I can say that my skin definitely feels smoother and the wrinkles on my forehead are less noticeable. The Verdict: I would continue using Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate due to the skin improvement.
